Uzochi Onyejuruwa, better known as UZI, was born of Nigerian descent from both his mother and father on August 1, 1988 in Miami, Florida. UZI would soon relocate with his family to Miramar, Florida by 3 years old and it is there that UZI would grow up. By the age of 17, UZI realized his natural ability to freestyle and write with versatility combined with an unconventional style. UZI’s delivery easily captures the ears of hard core music lovers and hip hop newcomers alike. His vivid story lines, hard hitting punch lines, and dope rhymes are a refreshing and welcome addition to the Southern hip hop scene. UZI is like no other. He has committed himself to not only studying Rap and Hip Hop’s various styles and delivery techniques but also learning about the business aspect of the entertainment industry – a sometimes missing link with up and coming artists.
Over the years, UZI’s interest in the music industry has grown into a passion laced with a talented craft sure to propel him to the top of the music game. Heavy influences such as Z-Ro, Tech N9ne, K-Rino, Outkast, Cee-Lo, Field Mob, UGK, Twista, Chamillionaire, Jay-Z and many more have been the sources of inspiration for UZI. UZI has created a style of his own by infusing bits and pieces from his inspirations, constantly studying various techniques of rapping, and using free styling to hone his skills. That free styling quickly turned into verse writing which in turn blossomed into his phenomenal song writing ability. Today, UZI has reached a level of artistry that the masses deserve to hear. With an amazing work ethic matched only by his talent and undeniable charm, UZI is taking the necessary steps to expand his reach and continue to leverage his brand to a coveted audience of his peers, veterans, and of course, the ladies. No fabricated tales of a hardcore street life or extravagant facades can be heard here but rather honest reflections of life as Uzi knows it. Uzi is definitely a representative for the Sunshine State to look out for.
